Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

Dr. Taylor: "Don't tell me...you're form outer space."
Kirk: "No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space."

release year: 1986
genre: science fiction
viewing setting: home streaming 7/26/26

synopsis: Before they even have time to face the consequences of their last escapade, the bridge crew of the Enterprise must embark on a new mission to save the Earth.

impressions: This was a direct sequel to the last one and continued the plot yet further. Really, these three (2-3-4) were one linked series. Further, I'd not really watched this one (or the sixth one) except for an initial time soon after they opened in theaters. This is a good adventure, involving a menace to the entire Earth, time travel, and escapades in 1986. Perhaps the best parts involved the crew's interactions with present-day people and places.

acting: New additions this time: Mark Lenard and Jane Wyatt reprise their 1967 roles as Spock's parents, Catherine Hicks is the 20th century cetologist (whale scientist) who ends up heliping the mission.

final word: Pretty good adventure featuring all of the main cast.
