Neagley, season 1

Riley: "You don't touch people."
Neagley: "I do when I'm beating the shit out of them."

"When I find out who was responsible for Tommy's death, they won't end up in cuffs. They'll end up in the ground."    - Neagley

Renee: "It's a hell of a mess."
Neagley: "This isn't a mess. This is [them] trying to clean things up because they know I'm coming after them...that's not gonna work."

release year: 2026
genre: action/drama (8 episodes)
viewing setting: home streaming 10/23-24/26)

synopsis: Ex-Army-investigator turned private investigator Frances Neagley takes a special interest when a childhood friend dies under suspicious circumstances.

impressions: This was bad-ass. From the very first episode, the protagonist (a tough co-star from the Reacher series who's just as smart and competent as he is) starts connecting dots and getting shit done. And she also kicks an ass or two while she's at it. She also (although I didn't realize it was happening until about the fourth episode) gradually builds up a team here. The plot was complex and sinister, and bad guys were the kind that you start wanting to see them get what they deserve.

acting: Maria Sten shifts flawlessly from her supporting role in the other series to a lead role in this one; her character is strong and handles problems. Greyston Holt is a police officer who ends up working with her. Adeline Rudolph is an admiistrative assistent at the PI agency who also helps. Damon Herriman is the slimy cult leader and worst of the villains.

final word: Outstanding spinoff that retains the same great elements.
