Beavis and Butt-Head (random sampling of early season 3 episodes)

Butt-Head: (watching a Helloween music video) "Whoa! Is that the Great Pumpkin?"
Beavis: "Yeah! Hey Butt-Head...what's the Great Pumpkin from again?"
Butt-Head: "It's from that Charlie Brown thing...that show about that bald kid. It's that kid with the blanket, that believes in the Great Pumpkin."

release year: 1993-94
genre: TV animation
viewing setting: home streaming 8/1/26 (12 episodes total, all from season 3 which originally aired 1993-4)

synopsis: These are some of the earliest adventures of Beavis and Butt-Head, back before they got more refined and clever.

impressions: This review covers all of the season 3 episodes available on Paramount Plus as of early August 2026. Most of these, I don't own on DVD/Bluray and some of them I had never seen before. This season was about when their banter got a lot more clever and funny. I noticed that their criticism of the music videos was pretty harsh in these early days. I also noticed that a couple of the episodes (like 2.23) seemed to be missing their endings...not sure what's up there. And finally, Paramount has some but not all of the total episodes - 12 out of the 31 season 3 episodes isn't really a lot. Anyway, the episode synopses:

(3.3) Tornado - their chance to possibly score is ruined by a tornado (note: Wikipedia has this as season 3 episode 8)
(3.6) Car Wash - they not only fail to complete a car washing job, but also drive it away and wreck it (note: Wikipedia has this as season 3 episode 2)
(3.7) Kidnapped - they decide to hold their friend Stewart for ransom (note: Wikipedia has this as season 3 episode 5)
(3.11) Scared Straight - they visit a jail and befriend some inmates
(3.13) Sporting Goods - they go in search of jockstraps
(3.17) Citizen Butt-Head (part 2) - they end up speaking to the President when he visits their school
(3.18) Politically Correct - they accidentally run for class treasurer and are given some books to help
(3.22) True Crime - they accidentally rob an ATM
(3.24) The Crush - they have their first encounter with Todd, and try to join his gang (note: several of the music videos and commentary from episode 2.21 are re-used here)
(3.27) Young, Gifted, and Crude - they accidentally (and temporarily) end up in the gifted class
(3.32) Meet God (parts 1 and 2) - while attempting to hitchhike, they end up in a religious compound (note: Wikipedia has these as season 3 episodes 20 and 21)

acting: n/a but the various voices get the job done

final word: At this point in time, the series was getting pretty good.
