Shark Side of the Moon

"Who would have thought that sharks would colonize the moon before humans?"

release year: 2022
genre: shark mayhem in space
viewing setting: home streaming 11/23/25

synopsis: The first moon colonization mission encounters a slight problem: mutated sharks from Russia that landed there in the 1980s.

impressions: Crazy premise aside, this actually had good production values and special effects...that includes spaceships, moon bases, explosions, humanoid sharks running around...yeah. The idea here is that in the 1980s, these genetically-augmented shark-people ended up on the moon with no chance of escape - until the humans show up. Logic point: just having little oxygen tubes running into your nostrils isn't quite enough to let you survive on the moon, because vacuum. Also, the nature of the shark "hybrids" wasn't clearly explained (one of them looked like a human.) All that aside, this was pretty damn entertaining, if silly.

acting: Ego Mikitas is the 1980s Russian who ended up bringing the sharks to the moon; he talks in broken english and it's kind of funny. Tania Fox is his adopted daughter who's a "hybrid" but looks like a human. Maxi Witrak is the commander of the moon mission and is fairly serious. Natasha Goubskaya is the voice of the Russian shark-queen.

final word: Goofy but fun far-fetched sci-fi with sharks and the moon.
