Dark Side of the 90s, season 2 episode 5: UFC part 2: To Live or Die in the Octagon

release year: 2022
genre: documentary
viewing setting: home streaming 6/11/25

synopsis: This was one episode from a series that's all about the 1990s; this one continues the exploration of the formation and rise of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

impressions: This episode (the second of two) continued chronicling the UFC/s rise and challenges in the mid-to-late 1990s. There was again a lot of time spent on Ken Shamrock, but also his brother Frank this time. It's interesting that the UFC was sold in 2001 for $2 million, and then in 2016 it was sold again for $4 billion.

acting: n/a but all of the interviews are sincere and informational

final word: Great account of one of the few interesting pieces of the decade of the 1990s.
